Tony Robbins “AWAKEN The GIANT Within” Book Notes/Summary. Phenomenal MUST READ Book for Anyone seeking Peak Performance Self Help.


Ill start off by saying this book is just too cram packed with inspirational motivational stuff that its an injustice to claim that this is a true book summary because my summary would be multiple pages long to even attempt to cover just how much meaningful helpful advice that is stuffed within these pages. Originally when I came up with this idea to do these book summaries I was going to elaborate on the notes I took and I think its a good idea to do that in the future to somewhat recycle the content and make for a more polished repost when I have more visitors to this blog.

I do feel it my obligation to highlight some of the bigger concepts discussed.  There really is just so much, the book is like 500 pages long!, so it got to a point where I would just kind of randomly pick a good line that I thought would be cool for someone to read for my notes section because this book summary section is mainly for people who don’t really have the time or drive to read a lot but still want to feed their mind with quick doses of knowledge motivation and inspiration.

Terminology is INCREDIBLY important!!!

The transformational vocabulary section is something that certainly needs to be addressed in this article. He goes into a lot of depth into this but just by rephrasing your feelings you can lower or raise your emotional intensity and by renaming your role or the roles of people around you, you can transform peoples identities and how they view themselves. One example that I found really interesting was that there was a factory that was getting a high percentage of errors and the solution that took their errors from like 50% to 10% was changing the titles of the employees from workers to craftsmen. This subtle change basically gave employees more pride and increased their attention to detail because the title just was more prestigious and gave the people more pride. There was so much more that went into this section but the big take away is be very mindful of the labels that you assign yourself and others because there is INCREDIBLE Power in the terminology you use to refer to yourself and others.

Pain and Pleasure

There’s the pain and pleasure concept which I believe is definitely crucial to one in transforming their life. The focus and energy and determination it takes to grow into a new person is considerable so you need to consciously link pain to the old behaviors that you are working to extinguish from your life and pleasure to the person you want to become for the change to really last. A good example to relate to my own life transformation is linking pain to lacking the discipline to stay away from sugary processed foods and a number of other retarded habits I was engaging in and the pleasure of being healthy, having more self respect and being the kind of person that is considered a leader helping people to steer clear of all the bullshit in life. You have to attach unbearable pain to the behaviors you are working to eradicate from your life and pleasure to your future self that you envision.

You Don’t need a special reason to be Happy, Count Your Blessings BE GRATEFUL & APPRECIATIVE

I was scrolling through my notes and tempted to elaborate on the topics in more depth because I cant stress enough that this book was a nourishing meal overloaded with nutrients for my brain at this critical point in my life and make this first draft book review a lot longer than I want it to be but a really good line that I want to share that is in my notes is that you don’t need any special reason to feel good. You can just decide to feel good right now because you’re alive simply because you want to. To add to that only a simple minded person lacking drive or any kind of ambition, in my opinion, would feel good and not be making progress in life but the take away is to free yourself from negative events that occurred in your past. Strive and work hard towards a better future for yourself but don’t expect that to bring you happiness. Be grateful everyday for what you have and appreciate the everyday beauty of life. Trust me I’m not perfect, I know sometimes stress comes along and worry and doubt and regret bites ya and life can seem like everything is falling apart around you LOL but you just have to remind yourself of what you do have because it will allow you to make the most of your resources and ultimately achieve more and just have more peace of mind and fulfillment.

Just in writing this I feel better not that I was feeling bad prior to writing this but in this life, it can be so easy to get caught up comparing yourself to others and thinking about what you could have done and how far along you could be if xyz happened and it all just creates pain and misery in ones life. All we have is the present and those past experiences whether good or bad just provide us with more knowledge of what to do and how to do it to progress and create a better future for ourselves and those around us. Everything happens for a reason. Have an expectation that your life will get better and put in the effort to bring about that positive change. Expectation without effort will of course breed pain and disappointment but I believe that as long as you expect better and put your best foot forward better will come to you because one way or another you will have something to show for it because HARD WORK PAYS OFF. Anyone saying otherwise quit or wasn’t working hard enough.

So below are the notes that I took for you all that I will revisit and add to so I can make this book summary much better because this book really does deserve it seeing as I know not a lot of people have an interest in reading a 500 page book. If you are passionate about changing your life circumstances though, I personally feel you need to find a way to read this book because there’s a lot of awesome stuff littered inside that will probably trigger something profound in your mind that my more generalized notes may not.

Most powerful antidote to emotion of disappointment is cultivating an attitude of posutuvfe expectancy about what will happen in future regardless of what has occurred in the past

Use guilt to hold self to higher standard don’t wallow in it

The conception of your goals is the master plan that guides all thought
